Let's understand the Constitutional Amendments

Dear Members,

I shall be shortly discussing important Constitutional amendemnts recenly approved by the General Body of our Club.

Your comments will be most welcome.

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Dear Members,
Thank you all for the support extended to me in the election. Though I lost with 136 votes to me, it was heartening to know that many members shared my views.
There was mis-information campaign saying that "this lady knows nothing" and that why is she spilling MIG CC's maters outside; MIG CC is like a family.
You will agree that someone from the family has to take initiative to correct the erring members or else the entire family is finished! I do not expect any kind words from the vested interests.
It is for the members to realise.
My endeavour to contribute to ensure transparency in MIG CC will continue untired.
Thanks again.

Do you know? Part I - Constitutional Amendments

Do you know?

The Constitutional Amendments provide for:

Sale or transfer all properties even without consideration (Para 1.4.8)

The Board of Trustees and the Managing Committee can dissolve the club and sale all its assets. (Para 7.2.1)
No coments!

Blanket power to the Managing Committee to change any rules (Para 1.3.3)

The Managing Committee will have freedom to spend money on any whatsoever activity“..and other fields whatsoever.” (Para 1.4.4)

MIG membership to all and sundry officers and MPs and MLAs without any restrictions as to jurisdiction (Para 2.1.7.6)

Make Ordinary members as Life Members without any fee/charge (Para 2.4.4.2)

A detailed explanatory statement along with the proposed amendments would have helped you understand the possible implications better.

Have you noticed that the EGM agenda was incomplete with last critical page/s missing!

Request you to write to me on this blog if you have also not received the last concluding page of the draft of the Constitutional Amendments..

Do you know? Part II - Why Transparency

Do you know?
Why Transparency

Many major expenses are first incurred and then ratified by the Managing Committee!
Are they supposed to be discussed and approved and tenders invited and placed before the Managing Committee?
The on-going lobby renovation contract is a glaring example.

Internal bickering damaging the Club’s reputation.
Chairman of the Club resigns and  no one knows the present status!
Then a Managing Committee member resigns but still attends the meeting!

Legal expenses on Advocates’ fees have sky rocketed since the last two years.
Is it for protecting interest of the club? Or resulting from in-fighting and petty internal politics? I do not know, but need to be curtailed.

Missing Records
Surprise of surprises! Even the Clubs Registration Certificate was missing!
Are the records even maintained properly? Refer to my Complaint to the Charity Commissioner.

The School issue is still unattended.  Does the Managing Committee have time to attend it when Hon’ble Supreme Court has issued clear directions?
Implications of such negligence would be severe for the club.

Are the Ordinary Memberships are distributed like Bhagwan ka Prasad or any procedure is followed with public offer?
I have no idea. Had asked for the basis of such issuance and why open offers are not made.

Why I complained to the Charity Commissioner?

Why I complained to the Charity Commissioner?

None of my letters and queries to the Club was answered nor was I offered any explanations. The only response I received was being called by a M.C. Member and asked why I should not be expelled from the Club!

Though I had cautioned the Club Management from time to time that in absence of any response or corrective actions, the Office of the Charity Commissioner would intervene, I never posted any complaints to it till I was compelled to, in the interest of the Club, write to it on 30-05-2010.

I heard members talking that I have complained on the behest of Mr. Pravin Barve. Ridiculous! Wonder whether he is not part of the management that is questioned?

Some members also questioned the source of information. What is important?

Answers to the questions
Or
how I got the info to ask these questions?

* * * * *

I found out later that there are some mistakes in my complaint.

The Life Membership now costs Rs. 4,00,000 and not Rs. 3,00,000. The Ordinary membership costs Rs. 1,00,000 as entrance fee and about Rs. 3,860 as annual fee. Good for Ordinary Members to save Rs. 2,75,000 as against annual payment of Rs. 4,200 or so (so the % is 1.28% and not 1.33%. Sorry for the mistake!)

Such a savings is fully justified as the people in the proximity and who cannot afford the Life membership fee should be in a position to avail the Club facilities.

My questions were whether such ordinary memberships were issued:
(1) by public offer?
(2) to the people who otherwise cannot afford the Life membership?, and
(3) were the Ordinary or Life memberships were open for admittance?

The issues rather than the amounts are important.

Objections to this BLOG overruled

Objections to this BLOG overruled

Mr. Patki issued ‘Instructions’ to me to stop using this BLOG. Said that it tarnishes image of the Club.  I thought that the facts leading to the complaints tarnish the image!

On my presentation, Mr. Karnik, Election Offer, overruled the objections.

A transparency would lift image of the Club to an unparallel level.

Election Appeal

BALLOT No.  27
DEEPA J. TIDKE
 (LT – 1811)

APPEAL

Dear Member,

I am contesting MIG Cricket Club’s Managing Committee elections scheduled on Wednesday, 30th June, 2010, to represent interest of our members on the Managing Committee, particularly for:

  • Transparency in the management with a members’ forum for open dialogue on all major issues and suggestions
  • Better facilities with reasonable charges
  • Impetus on sports & culture

I have, from time to time, raised many issues in the General Body meetings and made representations to the Managing Committee, all solely directed towards the above objectives.

I seek your support and request you to vote for me

Voting on Wednesday, 30th June, 2010
Voting Time: 7 a.m.  to  9 p.m.

Please spare your valuable time to vote. Your vote matters

WHAT DO I MEAN BY TRANSPARANCY?

  • All major contracts and expenses to be deliberated, tenders invited and awarded in the interest of the Club and not by ratification through majority

  • Follow the Club’s constitution in words & spirit and maintain up-to-date statutory records open for inspection by the Members

  • Avoid wasteful expenses such as legal expenses normally resulting from internal bickering and petty politics, if any, by endeavoring for amicable solutions

  • Transparent procedures for issuing of the Club memberships through open offers

  • All major decisions to be put before the members’ forum for dialogue, say, to open a Discotheque or to donate/sale/lease assets of the club as now provided for in the amended constitution.

AND MOST IMPORATNTLY,

  • Establish MIG CC Members’ forum through an interactive web site inviting members’ opinions & suggestions AND also for booking of services/facilities with on-line status and ops reports

Such transparency with your active interaction only can
guarantee your rights & benefits in the long run
