Extra-ordinary General Body Meeting held on 1-12-2013

Date: 5th Dec., 2013

To,
The Chairman,
MIG Cricket Club,
Bandra – East, Mumbai

Dear Sir,
Re. Extra-ordinary General Body Meeting held on 1-12-2013

This has reference to your SMS received yesterday wrongly claiming that the Annual Accounts of 2010-2011 were unanimously passed.

I had raised specific objections on certain issues that I had requested to put on records. Many people had said ‘No’ for passing of the accounts but the decent seem to be not taken into account. The points raised by me were:

1)      Invalidity of the passing of Annual Accounts by EOGM when it needs to be on the Agenda of AGM as per Clause 4.8 of the Club’s constitution

2)      a)         I have provided a proof of a receipt dated 30-12-1994 for Rs. 14,000 issued towards Ordinary Membership of the Club but that person’s name is not in the list of the members.

b)        This shows that the membership records are incorrect even since 1994. There may be many such instances.

c)         Thus, the Members Account including the corpus account need to be thoroughly investigated and certified by the Club’s statutory Auditors.

d)        Thus, all the subsequent year’s accounts are wrong as we do not even know whether the annual membership fee from that person is ever collected.

e)         This case is only as an example with solid proof and should form a basis for further investigation as I had claimed in the meeting.

3)      Without prejudice to the point no. (1) above, whether the accounts of 2010-11 are different than those put before the last AGM of the Club? If not what purpose is achieved in rejecting it earlier and then passing it? If they are different, no differences were pointed to the members.

4)      This has become a very disturbing precedent where AGM is bypassed for passing of Annual Accounts. The Office of the Charity Commissioner may reject the accounts and refuse to accept it unless approved by the AGM of the Club.

I am writing this letter to put my stand on record and request to record by dissent for passing of the accounts otherwise claimed as passed unanimously.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Deepa Tidke

Surrender membership

12th July, 2013

To,

Dear Members of MIG Cricket Club,

   I have proposed a change in the Club’s Constitution to allow surrender of Life

Memberships. Many members liked the idea and asked me to take initiative for

the same. It is proposed to work on the following lines:

1. The Club can re-issue these memberships to others at a much higher rate;

2. Compensation to be paid for such surrender of memberships can be

decided in the AGM from time to time;

3. A member selling his/her membership would get good amount of money;

4.A senior members above 65 years of age surrendering his Life

membership to get a Privileged Membership Card allowing him the bar and

restaurant facilities;

5. It will ensure that the total number of members remaining same over a

period still the Club raising substantial additional funds for its development;

6. Term memberships can be abolished as it practically amounts to offering

the gym, bar, …. all facilities at Rs. 2,500 per month! They can be offered

such surrendered Life memberships;

7. Issue of new memberships in place of the surrendered ones should be

through open offer.

This arrangement can help our Club generate substantial corpus while the

needy, old members also get the benefit. I request your support of this proposal

by signature on the attached sheet.

Thanking you,

Panorama

From:
Mrs. Deepa Tidke
LT-1811
Date: 6th May, 2013
Dear Mr. Ashish Patankar,

Read Panorama Jan-Mar 2013. Was wondering what is the cost of publishing one issue? There is not a single advertisement though we have 4,500 + members as readership and when we have many members associated with the ad world and accomplished businessmen. This is costing the Club when it should have earned revenue for the Club. Would like to know the efforts taken by the Panorama Committee to obtain advertisements. Its responsibility seems to be ending with collecting articles from members and printing it.

The content needs to provide for members’ children section. They should be encouraged with their poems, sports and all round achievements, paintings etc. published with prominence. Most of the present contents seem to be just fillers on thick pages.

Request you to consider these points and take suitable action as you may think fit.

  Regards,
Deepa Tidke

Dear Mr. Arun Naik,

Being an editor of Panorama, you need to whet its contents.

Mrs. Deepa Mavinkurve writes on Page 24 of Jan - March 2013 issue under caption 'Ladies Night out' that " ... the ladies group which included married women, single, divorced came together, danced and grooved to music ..." Is it prudent to mention 'divorced women'? It lack the taste.

Pl take care that such comments do not occur in future. It would have been better to have mentioned about the program more than the attendees. The fact that this time it was served by all women stewards was more relevant (though a ladies DJ was not hired as the event managing committee wanted to save on the additional cost!).
